There’s been no shortage of amazing women in the news lately–this pick is in honor of them and others all over the world who have inspired change.

TEEN TRAILBLAZERS is a collection of profiles of badass young women who effected change while they were teenagers. From Cleopatra to Emma Gonzalez, the courageous young ladies showcased are a diverse cast from the past and present. Vesna Asanovic’s illustrations add vibrancy to the pages, featuring beautiful, full-page portraits of each of the 30 teens included.

My favorite trailblazers include Jackie Mitchell, the first woman signed to minor-league baseball (at only seventeen-years-old, she struck out Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig); Barbara Johns, at sixteen was a key player in ending segregation in schools; and Mary Shelley, who wrote Frankenstein when she was nineteen and pretty much invented sci-fi. The teens featured in these pages are inspirational role models for anyone at any age and prove that anyone can be a revolutionary.
