Memphis (known as “M”) spent most of her formative years traveling the world with her archaeologist father. She’s proficient in multiple languages and her knowledge of ancient religions is not that of a typical eighteen-year-old. However, after her father dies, M’s life takes an oddly normal turn. Her guardians, Bob and Liza, are as normal as they come, and all they want is for M to start acting like a “normal teen.” But M’s life has never been normal, and that’s not about to change now. Enter: Ashwin Sood, the handsome young man that reveals that M’s father is alive.

According to Ash, M’s father is being held captive by a cult in search of the five broken pieces of the ancient god-figure, Set. Using clues from her father and skills she learned from years of accompanying him on digs, M embarks on an exhilarating, around-the-globe scavenger hunt.

Whew, this one is a whirlwind! I loved exploring the world with Ash and M. Whether we were cave diving in Naples, climbing sacred trees in Norway, or exploring an underground temple in Egypt, I was on the edge of my seat. The plot is fast-paced and action-packed! And the integration of Egyptian mythology was incredibly interesting. I also adored M! She’s such a firecracker. She’s spunky, brave, and whip smart, and she reminded me of a young, female Indiana Jones mixed with Lara Croft (aka total badass). This compelling novel is perfect for fans of ancient mythology and/or epic adventures.

Happy reading!
<3 Emily
