Ever since Elias Everhart betrayed her in the worst ways possible, Charlie Hudson has vowed to get revenge—she will become strong, find him, kill him, and never trust a boy again. She thinks she has plenty of time to train and hunt him down, all while also preparing her brother and friends to protect themselves, now that they too have been exposed to the deceptive beauty and deadly dangers of Asgard. But when the group stumbles upon two bodies in the forest only a month after the terrifying events took place, they are left shocked again when Elias soon steps foot in the school cafeteria, back once more. But this time, he claims he’s on a mission to protect them, as ordered by Loki himself. Elias offers to help figure out whatever is happening in that forest, and Charlie accepts, knowing that it will be the perfect opportunity to find a way to kill him. But the more time she’s around him, she finds her heart softening for him again. Will she be able to resist the grave mistake of falling for the dangerous Elias Everhart twice?

Oh, how good it feels to finally return to Silver Shores. If you read SOUL OF SHADOW, you know that it ends on the cliffhanger of a lifetime, so I’ve been patiently (not really) waiting for HEART OF MISCHIEF. This book is incredibly fast-paced, taking place over the course of just a few days, making it fully impossible to put down. There were so many elements of this sequel that I loved: the Vikings who stuck around after the traumatic events of the first book; the little creature we met in the first book, who somehow manages to get even more adorable; and the deeper exploration of the fascinating worlds that now exist around them. There’s mental health representation in Charlie, who is suffering from severe anxiety and panic attacks, after struggling with her grief in the first book. The friendships showcase the best of the found family trope, complete with laugh-out-loud banter and a fierce protection for each other. And once again, Elias makes the perfect morally gray love interest—you go from hating him, to loving him, to wanting him dead, and then suddenly you’re kicking your feet at their chemistry together. Even when they are determined to destroy each other, you can still feel their intense pull to one another.

This sequel is, just like the first book, a perfect romantasy read for fans of The Vampire Diaries (Damon fans, I’m looking at you), HEARTLESS HUNTER, and all things Norse mythology. Both books are incredibly bingeable, they leave you on the edge of your seat, and they will make you fall in love, laugh, and gasp in shock all at the same time. All in all, this is an incredible new addition to the series, and the twists definitely will not disappoint. And now we must anxiously await book three—Silver Shores, I can’t wait until I can return again.

Happy reading!
