Female serial killers is my new favorite subgenre, and this one takes the cake.  It’s Killing Eve meets MY SISTER THE SERIAL KILLER about two women, a fledgling murderer and the cop hell-bent on catching her in a crackling cat-and-mouse thriller with a side of female friendship and feminine rage.  Think Promising Young Woman with a heroine who really goes the distance.  Combine that with two starred reviews calling it a “stellar debut” (Publishers Weekly, starred review), and this is one you won’t want to miss.

Emily’s Pick: DIVINE RIVALS by Rebecca Ross | 9781250857439 | 4/4/23

What do you get when you cross You’ve Got Mail with LOVELY WAR and FABLE? You get a sweepingly romantic love story set during a fictional historical war about two rivals who send anonymous letters to each other. DIVINE RIVALS swept me away with its swoony enemies-to-lovers storyline, which weaves beautifully with the sobering wartime plot and a sprinkling of enchanting magic. Rebecca Ross knows how to tug at heartstrings and does so expertly, creating an emotional read that will have you feeling all the feelings.

Samantha’s Pick: ADELAIDE by Genevieve Wheeler | 9781250280848 | 4/18/23

If you’re looking for a read to make you laugh, cry, cringe, and smile, then ADELAIDE is it. I was first captivated by the powerful and unforgettable main character, but as I kept reading, I found myself swept up in the lively and charming London backdrop and completely absorbed in the beautiful and lyrical writing. A story about unrequited love, heartbreak, mental health, and what it means to be in your twenties, ADELAIDE is a debut filled with incredible characters and is the perfect pick for readers of Taylor Jenkins Reid and Carola Lovering.

Michelle’s Pick: THE PLUS ONE by Mazey Eddings | 9781250847041 | 4/4/23

This story of childhood nemeses agreeing to be each other’s fake date to a wedding weekend from hell is endearing, heartwarming, and laugh-worthy. I so enjoyed Indira and Jude’s relationship and the way it evolved over the course of the story. Whether you’ve loved Mazey Eddings’s previous works or this is your first read of hers, you’re sure to enjoy!
