What if your life was a ghost story?

In this eerie Southern gothic historical fantasy from debut author Sarah Goodman, a young woman uncovers unsettling secrets from her family’s unearthly past. Set in a small town in Arkansas in 1907, EVENTIDE is a novel that feels new yet nostalgic all at once. Goodman brilliantly weaves together the cozy domesticity of heartwarming classics like LITTLE WOMEN by Louisa May Alcott with the captivating pacing of dark, atmospheric tales penned by authors such as Shirley Jackson and Charlotte Perkins Gilman.

With their mother deceased and their father gone mad, Verity Pruitt and her younger sister Lilah are forced to leave their home in New York and board an orphan train headed to Arkansas in hopes of being adopted.

Verity’s dream of a fresh start quickly diminishes upon arriving to the small town of Wheeler when she learns that her sister has been adopted, but she has not. In a desperate attempt to stay close to her sister, the only family she has left, Verity secures work as a farmhand for a married couple in town. As Verity acclimates herself to the quiet town her parents once called home, she begins to forge new friendships and finds herself wrapped up in an unexpected slow burn romance with a charming farm boy named Abel.

Although Verity grows fonder of the community over time, she still can’t shake the unsettling feeling that something wicked lies at the heart of Wheeler. As she struggles to decipher her parents’ secret history with the town, someone waits in the shadows preparing to bring terror into Verity’s life and all those she holds dear.

Simply put, to read this book is to absolutely love it. If you are a fan of Jennifer Donnelly, Libba Bray, and Melissa Albert, experience the magic, secrets, and madness for yourself when EVENTIDE releases this October.

Happy Reading!
Isa 🙂
