Today we set the spotlight on two of our favorite things: debuts and Jane Austen (!) with a big-hearted novel of a community in Austen’s final home town and the transformation of the bookish ugly duckling of the Bennet sisters to a woman with choices of her own.

THE JANE AUSTEN SOCIETY by Natalie Jenner

2 starred reviews, a LibraryReads pick, and an Indie Next List pick!

“This is the story of people caring for and about one another in the small village of Chawton, Hampshire, where Jane Austen lived her final years and produced her finest novels…Like Mary Ann Shaffer and Annie Barrows’s THE GUERNSEY LITERARY AND POTATO PEEL PIE SOCIETY, it’s a must-purchase for libraries of all sizes.”–Library Journal, starred review

“Readers won’t need previous knowledge of Austen and her novels to enjoy this tale’s slow revealing of secrets that build to a satisfying and dramatic ending, while devoted Austen fans will pore over these pages, savoring the deeper connections between the lives of Jenner’s postwar characters and of Austen’s creations.”–Booklist, starred review

THE OTHER BENNET SISTER by Janice Hadlow
