In this Imprint Spotlight, we hear more about the joys of working with Literary Fiction and an epic trip to 40 libraries from Farrar, Straus & Giroux’s Nikki Barnhart.

Nikki Barnhart [Associate Marketing Manager, FSG]

“What I love about FSG is that while it’s a literary institution, I think we may be more dynamic than some people even realize: we are committed to the future of publishing and the innovation of literature through a wide-ranging list of equally bold and exciting voices in a variety of areas.”

Nikki’s favorites:

“We’ve done some fun stuff for Chris Rush’s THE LIGHT YEARS, Ben Lerner’s THE TOPEKA SCHOOL, and Andre Aciman’s FIND ME, the sequel to CALL ME BY YOUR NAME.

Some of my absolute FSG faves include Sarah Moss’s GHOST WALL, Maryse Meijer’s RAG, Yuko Tsushima’s TERRITORY OF LIGHT, Kathryn Scanlan’s Aug 9 – FOG, and the aforementioned THE LIGHT YEARS. From other imprints, I am obsessed with Susan Choi’s TRUST EXERCISE (Holt) and I have to give a shout-out to Picador’s amazingly beautiful Modern Classics collection.”

Fun fact about me:

“My parents encouraged my love of reading my whole life, and growing up, my mother and I spent the summers of my childhood with the goal of visiting every library in Connecticut, my home state. We made it to about 40 libraries! This project fed my reverence and love of libraries as an institution—they’ll always feel like sacred spaces to me just lying in wait for me to explore.”
