  This program will give a wonderful introduction to the world of self-sufficient living from small or large-scale gardening, food preservation to crafts and knitting. Come hear our panel of experts talk about what they are doing, what is working, what they see in the future and how you can use this in your community library. Moderated by Margaret Heilbrun, Senior Editor of the Library Journal Book Review, this panel includes Josh Kilmer-Purcell and Dr. Brent Ridge, authors of The Beekman 1802 Heirloom Cookbook (Sterling Epicure) who are best known for their hit Planet Green TV show,  The Fabulous Beekman Boys; Katie O’Neill, Marketing Director of Fulcrum Publisher and creator of HipChicksDig.com, a website dedicated to urban homesteading, edible landscape design and sustainable living; Steven Koenig, Publisher and Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Interweave Press; and Jessica Pigza, Librarian at the New York Public Library, who has two DIY blogs and runs an NYPL series called Handmade Crafternoons.
