Publishers Weekly stamped a big ol' star next to their review of Louis Bayard's thriller, THE SCHOOL OF NIGHT, a story that oscillates between a modern whodunit and Elizabethan intrigue marked, the review said, by "intelligence and depth."
Earlier this week, they caught up with Bayard for a short Q&A about the book. In the interview, Bayard discusses his research on the secret society known as the School of Night, how his political involvement comes into his writing, what makes this book different from his previous historicals, and the literary roots for plots driven by modern characters solving ancient mysteries.
