Today we are spotlighting a sharp contemporary fantasy series from T. L. Huchu that opens up a world of magic and adventure.

In the second installment of the Edinburgh Nights series, Ropa Moyo’s ghostalking practice has tanked. Desperate for money to pay bills and look after her family, she reluctantly accepts a job to look into the history of a coma patient receiving treatment at the magical private hospital, Our Lady of Mysterious Ailments.

OUR LADY OF MYSTERIOUS AILMENTS

“Witty, suspenseful, and keenly attuned to real-life socioeconomic hierarchies, this equally entertaining and insightful sophomore outing should keep Huchu’s star on the rise.”–Publishers Weekly, starred review

“Ropa, at only 14, carries an adult’s burdens and responsibility with equal parts can-do spirit, stubborn energy, and kicking herself and her friends as necessary. This twisted Edinburgh tries its best to keep her down, but she never stops.”–Library Journal, starred review

Don’t miss the first book in the series:

THE LIBRARY OF THE DEAD

“The mystery contains plenty of twists, turns, and genuinely eerie moments to draw in even the most seasoned horror reader. Huchu writes with a refreshing voice, crafting an intimate portrait of Ropa and her Zimbabwean family amid the delicious paranormal chaos.”–Publishers Weekly, starred review
