Amazing news: THE SUN DOES SHINE: How I Found Life and Freedom on Death Row by Anthony Ray Hinton is Oprah’s Book Club Summer 2018 Selection!
Hinton’s revealing story of hope, love, justice, and the power of reading by a man who spent 30 years on death row for a crime he didn’t commit has two starred reviews and was revealed as Winfrey’s latest, highly-anticipated book club selection on “CBS This Morning.”
“He is a remarkable storyteller,” Oprah said. “You will be swept away into this unbelievable, dramatic true story.”
“There was a time I thought I’d never see the sun again,” said author Ray Hinton. “I really believe my mother prepared me, and she always told me to keep the faith. I worked really hard and tried to make a book that would inspire people to do better, learn how to forgive one another and move on. What happened to me, I don’t ever want to happen to anyone else. I’m just trying to be a little tiny light in God’s world.”
A special entitled, “Oprah’s Book Club: Freedom After 30 years on Death Row,” will air Sunday, June 10 at 11 a.m. PT/ET on OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network. It will feature a conversation between Oprah and Hinton about his book and life. The discussion will also be available via “Oprah’s SuperSoul Conversations” podcast Monday, June 11 (Part 1) and Wednesday, June 13 (Part 2). O, The Oprah Magazine will run a feature on the new selection in the July issue and Oprah.com will offer video clips from the sit-down interview between Oprah and Hinton, as well as a reading guide and selected quotes from the book.
