Introducing Flatiron Books!

FlatironBooks-ShelfDedicatedToday’s dedicated issue of Shelf Awareness gives a warm welcome to Flatiron Books, Macmillan’s new imprint headed up by Bob Miller.

Flatiron Books’ first list of seven titles is set for Winter 2015, although they do have one major Fall 2014 title: WHAT I KNOW FOR SURE by Oprah Winfrey. When the imprint gets up to full speed, it’ll publish five to six books every month, a range of nonfiction (including cookbooks) and fiction with Amy Einhorn as publisher.

“We’re looking for distinctive ideas from unique voices,” Miller said, and emphasized that the staff will select books they feel passionate about. Einhorn said that Flatiron’s fiction will feature authors who are “wonderful writers and incredible storytellers” in all areas from literary and commercial fiction to young adult crossover.

#BookBday Bonus: WHAT I KNOW FOR SURE

It gives us great pride to wish a Happy #BookBday to Flatiron Books’s very first publication: WHAT I KNOW FOR SURE by Oprah Winfrey!

After film critic Gene Siskel asked her, “What do you know for sure?” Oprah Winfrey began writing the “What I Know For Sure” monthly column in O, The Oprah Magazine. Now, for the first time, these thoughtful gems have been revised, updated, and collected in a beautiful keepsake book. Organized by theme—joy, resilience, connection, gratitude, possibility, awe, clarity, and power—these essays offer a rare and powerful glimpse into the mind of one of the world’s most extraordinary women.

If you think that’s pretty great, then you’ll love the audiobook, narrated by the Queen of Media herself! Click here to listen to an excerpt.

Expect major media attention from Redbook, Elle Magazine, Marie Claire, Parade, USA Today, Woman’s Day, the Boston Globe, New York Daily News, and of course, Oprah.com.
