Monday Fun Day! (6/3/2013 Edition)

Happy post-BEA Monday!

*cue everyone collapsing into a pile and catnapping for a week.*

We're almost at the end of this year's frenzied conference season, so let's wrap up our BookExpo adventures and get you back in gear for ALA Annual.

BookExpo America:

First of all, a huge thanks to all of the happy librarians who joined us for dinner on Wednesday at the AAP's Annual BEA Librarians Dinner with Erica Jong, the author of FEAR OF FLYING (40th Anniversary Edition), and also on Thursday at the AAP's BEA Librarians Author Lunch with Louise Penny, author of the Chief Inspector Gamache novels (pictured below)! We had a great time and we hope you were entertained and well-fed for your other panels and show floor expeditions. Please join us again next year and spread the word!

And also thank you to everyone who came out to hear me gush about a few of Macmillan's forthcoming  titles at the AAP's Annual Librarians Book Buzz panel. My handout is available for you to download (PDF) and definitely go to MacmillanBEAPreview.com to register for e-galley downloads of all of Macmillan's featured BEA titles (expires June 10). Read more about Edelweiss here.

C-SPAN 2 posted the hour-long state of the book industry talk at BookExpo America with Macmillan CEO John Sargent. Watch "Publishing, Bookselling, and the Whole Damn Thing: A Conversation with John Sargent" now.

TxLA13 Recap + Giveaway!

Howdy librarians—Texan or otherwise!

We're happily exhausted after our adventures down in Fort Worth last month at the Texas Library Association's centennial Annual Conference. We had a fantastic time reconnecting with all of our librarian friends from the mighty Texas systems, giving away some of our most excellent forthcoming titles, and enjoying panels of the author talk and book buzz* variety.

*Download our TxLA Book Buzz handout here!

A huge thanks to all of our crazy wonderful authors who joined us for the madness including C.C. Hunter (Shadow Falls series), Diane Kelly (Tara Holloway series), Ellie James (Midnight Dragonfly series), Julie Kibler (CALLING ME HOME), and Gilbert Hernandez (MARBLE SEASON). Shout out to C.C. Hunter who spoke on three panels and then signed books at an event with—gasp!—real live teens.

TxLA Signed Books Giveaway:

We brought back a stack of signed books for one lucky librarian to keep or shelve as they please!

Monday Fun Day! (3/25/2013 Edition)

Happy new week, librarians!

- Congratulations to Brad Parks, author of THE GIRL NEXT DOOR which won the 2013 Lefty Award for the best humorous mystery! AND congratulations to Catrona McPherson, author of DANDY GILVER AND AN UNSUITABLE DAY FOR MURDER which won the 2013 Bruce Alexander Memorial Historical Mystery Award! Both of these honors were awarded at the Left Coast Crime convention in Colorado Springs. See all of the 2013 Crime Fiction Award-winners

- Graywolf Press, one of our excellent distribution clients, has a gorgeous new website: GraywolfPress.org. I'll admit that I miss the trio of wolves that used to walk on screen in the upper right hand corner, but I'm sure they've been released into the digital wilds to roam free.

Uncharted Pages is now updated with another season's worth of fantastic books featuring totally rad preternatural stuff. Find out more about the books and the giveaways here

- We posted our schedule for the Texas Library Association Annual Conference! Please join us in the booth (#1137) and at all of our fine events.

- If you missed Library Journal's "Editors' Picks" webinar, find out which four summer titles our editors were raving about here. UPDATE: You can now watch the full archived webinar! (Macmillan titles begin at the 18 minute mark.)
