Pepper and Jack (yes, like the cheese) have been quiet rivals since Pepper moved to NYC to attend Jack’s fancy private school. Pepper is top of her class and Jack is the class clown. Pepper is the swim team captain and Jack is a dive team star. Pepper’s family owns Big League Burger, a massive chain, and Jack’s family owns Girl Cheesing, the local deli. Pepper secretly runs the Big League Burger Twitter account and Jack occasionally tweets back from the Girl Cheesing account.

When Girl Cheesing accuses Big League Burger of stealing their top-secret grilled cheese recipe, the two become embroiled (har har) in an all-out Twitter war. But while Pepper and Jack are fighting online, they’re also falling in love via an anonymous app that Jack created. When the Twitter feud goes viral, things get way too personal and the tweets turn mean, but that doesn’t stop the world from shipping the pair. (How can you resist when their ship name is PepperJack??) Will their budding IRL friendship & virtual romance survive the fallout?

This Saturday, August 17, 2019 is the first ever Bookstore Romance Day, bringing stores, readers, and writers together to celebrate all things romance!

To help celebrate, here are some of our favorite romances–guaranteed to light a spark in any heart–so you can share the love with your patrons:

RED, WHITE & ROYAL BLUE by Casey McQuiston
The First Son falls for the Prince of Wales! Swoon.

THE HIGHWAYMAN by Kerrigan Byrne
The first book in the Victorian Rebels series–historical romance with scoundrels and the women who love them. You can’t go wrong with anything from this author.

IN PARIS WITH YOU by Clémentine Beauvais
YA romance about the love that got away…until they meet again in Paris.

THE GIRL HE USED TO KNOW by Tracey Garvis Graves
College sweethearts reconnect a decade later, but can they overcome the fears and anxieties that drove them apart in the first place? Bonus, one protagonist is a librarian!

THE FLATSHARE by Beth O’Leary
Roommates on opposite schedules fall in love through post-it notes–squee!

Day’s YA – RED, WHITE & ROYAL BLUE

Now that it’s officially summer, I present to you the Ultimate Beach Read.

RED, WHITE & ROYAL BLUE by Casey McQuiston
9781250316776
Available now from St. Martin’s Griffin
New Adult

Alex Claremont-Diaz is American royalty. He’s the son of the first female president and rules the White House gossip ring with his sister June and the VP’s granddaughter, Nora .

Henry is actual royalty. As the Prince of Wales, he is the golden boy of the British Isles . . . and Alex’s #1 enemy.

When photos of a major confrontation are leaked to the press, Alex and Henry are forced into a fake friendship. To their scheming PR teams, the plan is foolproof—Alex and Henry will attend functions together, pose for photos, and smile, smile, smile. But what happens when sworn enemies fall in love? Could a secret romance lead to a scandal of international proportions?

I know this one isn’t technically YA, but I just couldn’t resist sharing this fun and sexy New Adult romance with you. Anyone who has heard me talk about books at all recently has heard me gush about RED, WHITE & ROYAL BLUE. This book is like getting a big hug from your best friend—it’s comforting and weird and hopeful and queer AF (which, incidentally, also describes my best friend).
