UPDATE: This contest is closed. Congratulations to winner Linda Beck, Director of Indian Valley Public Library!

t's hard for me to believe that it's been an entire year since I joined the Macmillan party. In that time I've had a blast blogging, sending galleys, exhibiting at conferences, and working on our monthly e-newsletter (what's that? You don't subscribe?! Get on it!).

An Obituary for Typewriters + GIVEAWAY

An Obituary for Typewriters + GIVEAWAY

You've probably heard the whispers by now: Godrej and Boyce, the last factory producing typewriters, halted production in 2009 and has now sold almost all of the inventory. The days of buying brand new typewriters are over.

Join us as we mourn the brief life of the typewriter that came into our lives clack-clacking away and fell silent all too soon. In celebration of this great literary tool, we're giving away three copies of 21 ESSENTIAL AMERICAN SHORT STORIES edited by Leslie M. Pockell. These stories (many of which came to life under the harsh rap of typebars) are bound with a bold keyboard cover design. It's gorgeous; you want it.

To enter: send your name, library, and full mailing address to: Library @ MacmillanUSA.com by April 27th at 5pm (EDT)!

[UPDATE]: False alarm! Typewriters are still in business. How embarrassing. But don't worry, the contest is still on!

[UPDATE 2]: Thanks to all who entered for a chance to win! The contest is now closed and the winners have been notified.
